Gaining delegated permissions for Business Central API

Hi All,

I'm publishing a Business Central connect app on AppSource but am unsure about the recommended method of obtaining delegated OAuth permissions to query the Business Central API. Any nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Currently, I have registered an app within my Azure Active Directory and I have created a sign up page that requests permission from a new user to access their Business Central information. This seems straight forward enough.

Then, I am using Azure Data Factory to periodically ping the Business Central API to retrieve new data. By adding my registered app as a contributor on the Data Factory resource, I'm expecting that API requests will use its delegated permissions. However, I am getting authorisation errors when I do this.

Is this the intended way for third parties to access the Business Central API within Azure? I cannot find examples of what the recommended process is and any tickets I've raised with Azure support have gone round in circles.

Could someone smarter than me tell me what they did?

Thanks in anticipation,

David

    Hello,

The following may help as a starter:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../readiness-connect-apps

On that page or inside the downloadable PDF, there is the program called "Ready to Start". This is where you can address this question to.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../readiness-ready-to-go

I do not think that this is a question that should be raised to Azure support.

    Thanks.

    Hi Marco,

Thanks for the direction and I had a good look through those resources today.

For the downloadable PDF, do you mean the document called: "Developing and publishing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Connect Apps : White paper 2 of 2"?

That white paper it suggests raising issues on Github or reaching out to a help email. Is this what you would recommend as the best course forward?

    Thanks,

    David
