No Sale Key

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Our cashiers who have the ability to enter a no sale.. Frequently hit the <F8>  no sale key instead of the <F9> secure key.  We have a reason code set up however, is it possible to back out of a no sale once the key is pressed?  A confirmation ?  Or can we disbale the f8 key on the keyboard and require them to use the no sale on the touchscreen keyboard??

Well there are some options.  You could either use RMS security and lock out the No Sale (F8) button at the POS Screen, but this would mean another user would have to log in when a No Sale is needed.  You could also disable a cashier ability to do No Sales via Casher properties.  This would have the same result as above.  On other option would be to have a program written that would intercept the F8 keystroke and make sure RMS never receives it.  We have build similar programs in the past.  If you were interested to see what that would take, please let me know.
