Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Archived)

Distribute sales value among the same dimension category.

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Can I attach several dimensions to a one transaction and give percentages to the allocation?

My client required to distribute the company sales revenue among few departments and then get a dimension wise analysis report.

As a example in a sales invoice they sell items worth USD.12000 and this should be divided among 3 teams based on a pre-defined percentages. Team A get 50%, Team B gets 30% and Team C gets 20% of the sales amount. Currently teams are created as dimension 01 and he want to get a dimension wise analysis report based on the team revenue.

Can we do this in NAV without much modification? Because he does not want to modify the system much.

Thank You.

You cannot do this with the default NAV version. This required a customization and it does not affect the posting routine of NAV.

But this contain some reasonable modification to the system and it is advisable for move to another alternative method.

You cannot do it by default form example sales invoice. It is possible to make some customization, but not by default.

But you can make the similar allocation after you post sales invoice. You can use Recurring General Journal with Balance recurring type. You can open Allocations and choose between percentage or amount.
