Transfer whole Inventory with Bin on One Company to another - Options

Posted on by 1,865

Hi,

We want to move all the Inventory in all the Sites with Bins from one company to another company, as we are retiring the source company. Can you please advise on the best options. Target company will have the same Sites and Bins.

Thank you for your help!

Regards,

Jothikrishnan

Have you already set up the receiving bins in the destination company?

Thank you very much Leslie. I'm trying this option. I will update here if it works for users.

    Hi,

Here's one way to approach this. Create a stock count schedule in the source company that includes all of the inventory items. Start the count. Enter the count quantities such that the number of items counted is zero. Complete the stock count. This will create a variance transaction that will take the source inventory to zero. Don't post it yet.

Next, create your IM import to create an increase transaction into the destination company. Use the transaction created by the stock count as the source for your IM import. Of course, this should be an increase transaction instead of decrease. Once the import is complete, your destination company should have the same inventory as the source.

Finally, post the variance transaction in the source company that will take its inventory to zero.

    How's that sound?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi Leslie,

Thank you very much. Users wants to bring all the inventory down to 0 on the source, and move it to the Target company. Source will still be available for them to view any historical transactions., but just no new transactions will be allowed. Also please note that we do have Project Accounting.

Is it still the option to move all the IV transactions.  IF so, would you elaborate a little bit please on what are those particularly.

    Thanks,

    Jothikrishnan

    Hi Jothikrishnan,

I would use the Integration Manager to import IV transactions into the target company. If the target didn't have those items, I would import those first. This is especially nice because you will be able to use the SQL tables of the originating company as your source. You won't have to mess around with Excel or .csv files or any of that. If the FIFO/LIFO layers are important you can also pull that information from the source company to keep your layers intact.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
