Dynamics GP 2018 R2: Missing Windows & Crashes Post-Migration

Hello Dynamics Community,

We recently migrated our Dynamics GP 2018 R2 system by cloning the primary server's disk and deploying it in a new environment. Post-migration, we've encountered two significant issues:

Missing Configuration Windows for Standard Users:

When standard users log into GP, the configuration windows are not displayed correctly, assigning the PowerUser role resolves the issue, displaying all windows as expected, similar to the "sa" user. However, this is not an ideal solution, as it grants excessive permissions, i've reviewed Microsoft's official documentation but haven't identified the root cause. I will attach example images to illustrate this behavior.

Crashes with Custom Forms in RDP Environment:
  • After migrating the server to the cloud, users now access GP via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), users with custom forms for specific functions experience crashes when executing these forms; GP closes without any error messages. The client server hosting the GP instances is running Windows Server 2022, and users launch GP through RDP shortcuts from this server.
Unfortunately, restoring a previous backup isn't an option, as we've recorded recent transactions that we cannot afford to lose.

We would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions to resolve these issues without compromising our current data integrity.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

    Good night, I could solve both problems that I report, thanks for your answer. Crash 'error with the server and the use of Addins is because Windows Server comes with a function that blocks access to the application of the application and makes it close. They should only enter System> Advance System Settings> Advance> Performance> Settings> Data Execution Preventions and there select Turn on Dep For Essential Windows Program and Services Only.

    With this option I could solve this problem and the other problem that all the functions did not come out according to the role was that when the migration was carried out, some recommendations that give for the user tables were not taken into account. Grateful for belonging to the community.

    Are you currently running GP 2018 R2 in the hosted environment now or did you upgrade to a later version? If you're running Windows Server 2022, SQL Server 2022, then 2018 R2 isn't compatible with them.

    Were you on-premise before or always hosted? What was the previous version of Windows Server and SQL Server running?

    Hi

    My first reflex would be to look in your DYNAMICS.SET file to validate where GP is looking for the dictionaries, then I would look in the DEX.ini file for the two following lines:
    ReportDictionaryPath= XXXXXXX
    FormDictionaryPath= XXXXXX

    Make sure the GP users have read/write access to the folders used for those paths
