Bookable Resource Booking - Miles Travelled

Hi all,

I've been working with Field Service and Dynamics 365 for a while now.
The Travel Duration fields are calculating perfectly, but can't get the travel distance to work. I assume it takes the resource's start location and calculates the distance between that and the service account's address.

Is anyone actually using this and can tell me how it works?

Many thanks,
Chris

    Hi Chris,

I have just implemented "Field Service" at a large customer in Denmark.

I assume you want to see the travel distance after you have "Scheduled" a "Work Order" ?

The system will calculate travel distance either from "Ressource Address", "Company Address" or "Previous Work Order" You have to decide on each "Ressource" how to calculate travel distance. This usually only applies to the first "Work Order" you schedule on a working day -  after that travel distance will be calculated from the address on the previous work order.

If you try to "Schedule" a "Work Order" using the "Schedule Assistant" and the system gives you a suggestion for start time and estimated arrival time you should also be able to see either "miles" or "km"

    Regards

    Morten

    Hi,

Just create a new workflow which automatically creates products on the related WO - 1: Mileage and 2: Drive time - workflow is activated when status is changed on the "Bookable Resource Booking".

    Thank you Morten!

Regarding Mileage - in price list , there is no unit for miles , there is only unit for time (hours etc)- how to add miles as unit ?

    Hi Morten

If you add Miles as a Unit of Measure you will then be able to create a product of Miles
