Bringing an editable custom field from InventTable to PurchTable form

I have added InventTable as datasource to the PurchTable form on PurchLine with delayed join and the field from InventTable to LineSpec grid but the added fields only display the selected row's value. When i change the link type to outer join, i get the "InventTable was never selected" error while trying to add new PurchLine despite populating the necessary fields (ItemId). What should i do to correctly add the field as editable?

If a method is Hookable false, one cannot use event handlers. Instead, one have to use other methods.
modifiedField on PurchLine may be use to populate your custom fields from Invent (other) table.

    You can use PurchlineType.initFromInventTable

Purchline.initFromInventTable will call PurchlineType.initFromInventTable so your extension code ll work for each time table method called

A new requirement was added up to also make the custom field editable so i had to change my question.

Modifying properties of a released item in the purchase order line grid sounds like a bad design to me.
Could you explain the business requirement that you've decided to address in such a strange way?

It's a pity that you removed the original question. This thread doesn't make a good sense anymore since the replies respond to a question that it isn't available. Next time, leave the question in place and either add your own reply, or create a new thread.
