Database Log for Vendor Bank Account Changes - How to identify the Vendor Account?

(1) ShareShare

Dear All,

I have enabled Database Log for the Vendor bank account (VendBankAccount) table.

The logging is working, and I can see changes such as updates to the BankIBAN field in the History tab. However, the database log only shows the changed field value and does not indicate which Vendor Account the bank account belongs to.

For example, the log displays:

Change Type: Update

Field: AccountNum: [Value]

User and Date/Time

But I cannot determine the corresponding Vendor Account  from the database log screen.

Is there a standard way to display the Vendor Account in the Database Log history for VendBankAccount changes? (change type update)

Which fields or tables can be used to link the database log record back to the vendor account?

Any guidance or best practices would be appreciated.

    Thank you for the response.

The Database Log is already enabled for the VendBankAccount table under the Database Log setup, and I can see the field-level changes in the History tab.

Could you please elaborate on your recommendation regarding the “Vend” field? Specifically, could you provide the exact table name and field name that should be configured or used to identify the Vendor Account (AccountNum) associated with the bank account change?

The database log needs a generic solution, therefore it logs RecId (which exists in every table), not a natural key such as AccountNum. Switch to the Overview tab to see it.

Martin is right. Event vendaccount is already in the table, while not effected, you can not see in the database log.

    Hi,

In order to track back the original record, please take the LogRecid value from the above screen (Overview tab), and filter with that value in VendBankAccount table.

    Similar screenshot for reference:

In this case, you are aware that VendBankAccount table is used, in case of other tables, you need to use the TableID to identify the table name (&mi=Systablebrowser&tablename=SysTableIdView).

Does this answer your query? Or require further assistance.

    Regards,

    Neeraj Kumar

@CA Neeraj Kumar - Thank you for your response.

I couldn't find a LogRecId field in the VendBankAccount table.

Could you please clarify which field in the VendBankAccount table should be used to match the LogRecId value from the Database Log Overview tab?

@Martin Dráb - Thank you for your response.

I tried matching the Record ID field in the VendBankAccount table with the Log RecId value from the Database Log Overview tab. Unfortunately, the values do not match.

Could you please clarify which exact field in the VendBankAccount table should be used to match the Log RecId?

@CU05062024-1 There isn't any LogRecId in VendBankAccount table. As I said, every table has the RecId field and that's what the database log (SysDatabaseLog.LogRecId) refers to). Its Table field identifies the table that the record ID belongs to.

I see three possible reasons why you can't find the record:

    1. It doesn't exist anymore.

    2. You're looking at a log entry for a different table. Double-check the table name.

    3. You made some kind of mistake when trying to find the record, such as not switching to the right company.

We may be able to help you if you tell us how you tried to find it.

Dear @Martin Dráb - Thank you for the detailed explanation.

To clarify, I followed these steps:

    1. Opened the Vendor master and selected the vendor bank account.
    2. Updated the Bank Account Number. The Vendor Bank Account Workflow for proposed changes is enabled.
    3. After updating, I checked the Database Log Overview tab, which shows the following:
      • Table ID: 75605
      • Table Name: Proposed changes to vendor bank account data
    4. I then opened the Vendor master, selected Bank accounts, and navigated to Options > Record info > Show all fields. However, the Record ID displayed there is different from the Log RecId in the Database Log.

I also noticed that the vendor bank account table is named VendBankAccount

Could you please clarify how I can navigate to the “Proposed changes to vendor bank account data” table from the D365 F&O front end to check the corresponding Record ID?

Proposed changes to vendor bank account data is the label of VendBankAccountChangeProposal table, VendBankAccount not table. The proposed changes will be actually applied to the bank account after an approval. You believed you've modified data in VendBankAccount table, but as you see, it wasn't the case.

In GUI, click Proposed changes button in the Vendor back accounts form to see the data.
