MR- multiple companies but use only on account in Interco Accounting setup

Hi All,
We have 200+ legal entities where intercompany transactions are happen between these legal entities.  There are 2 issues:
1. Intercompany accounting utilizes one single account for both debits and credits. How does the system know which intercompany transactions to pull for elimination between specific pairs of legal entities?  If company A & B buy/sell to each other.  C & D buy/sell with each other.  How does the system know to pull the intercompany transactions for specific pairs of legal entity if the interco/R and interco/P are unique from pair to pair? The advantage of using the same account for interco/R and Interco/P is that I don't need to create multiple Elimination column, but that leads to issue #2.

2.  If I were to create separate general ledger accounts, such as Interco/R and Interco/P, for each pair of legal entities involved in intercompany transactions, it would provide greater clarity. However, with over 200 legal entities, creating a column for eliminations, as seen in columns G, H, and I, would be nearly impossible to manage.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to handle this situation? The column definitions aren't limited to just A to B or B to C; they can also include combinations like A to C, A to D, A to F, and so on. As you can see, it can quickly become overwhelming. I would appreciate any feedback on how to simplify this complexity.

When you have over 200 legal entities, creating separate accounts or elimination columns for every intercompany pair gets really complicated and hard to manage. A better way is to use just one set of intercompany accounts and track which company is involved by using accounting dimensions, like an “Intercompany Partner” dimension.

Then, the system can handle eliminations based on these dimensions, so you don’t need tons of accounts or columns. This makes things much simpler and easier to manage as you scale.

    Hope this helps!

I am trying to start my Management Reporter environment in Demo environment to share a screenshot, but in the meantime I can explain how you might identify intercompany transactions using the Financial Dimension “Intercompany.”

First, please confirm whether you are currently using an Intercompany financial dimension in your transactions. If you are, you can leverage it in Management Reporter.

You can create a reporting tree that includes all companies along with the Financial Dimension "Main Account- 133300"  and the Intercompany dimensions. Then use this reporting tree in Management Reporter to generate a report.

This should help you identify which company has intercompany transactions with another company. For example, if Company A shows transactions with the Intercompany dimension value “Company B, C, D,” it indicates that Company A has intercompany transactions with Company BCD.

I hope this explanation helps you configure and test this setup in your environment.

Thanks, Syed, for your prompt response.
No, I'm not currently using intercompany dimension.  Did you mean I would need:
    1. Add an Intercompany segment to the Account Structure.
    2. Add a least 200 ish of pair of intercompany financial dimensions.  A&B, B&C, C&D, A&C, A&D, B&D, and so on.
    3. At the Intercompany journal, these dimension (A&B, B&C, etc) will be at the drop down box for me to select.

Is that what you meant?  Thanks

Dear, Please open the legal Entity dimension and use it with those accounts it will help you to segregate Legal entity wise transactions and you can filter in Management reporter using Dimension value for elemination.

also i would suggest to Mention that GL account simply in Dimension Filter  for example in Column A put the IC account there

    Salman,
If you meant this, this won't work well because there is only one GL account for the debit and credit in the intercompany accounting setup.
