We are running Dynamics GP 2010 SP2 in a Citrix environment. Since upgrading from GP10 SP5, occasionally a user will be running a process (usually posting) and Dynamics GP seems to freeze. There appears to be no reason for the freeze: No SQL locks, no record locks, the Dynamics GP process monitor shows nothing and SQL profiler shows the connected session with no activity. The session is not slow, it appears to be dead - almost like the queue processor in Dynamics GP can no longer "see" the queue. We end up using task manager to end Dynamics GP. Since, the process was so "quiet" (dead) when it was killed, the user is able to log back in and posting resumes and completes. We haven't had data damage yet, but I am concerned. Has anyone else observed this behavior? Any resolution?
Thanks
Tim

Hi Ian,
Depending on the version of GP and the which version of Citrix/XenApp you are using it should be supported. With that being said there can be quirky issues like this that do come up that we don't run into when we test these environments.
hello
until recently we were running citrix xenapp and having the problem described of the reports and printer selection. We never had any issues with processes stalling however.
I would point the finger at the citrix box(es) however and suspect that something is disconnecting there.
Since moving to a terminal server two weeks ago, no more issues.
Does Msft / GP still support Citrix?
Jonathan, please send it along to rwheeler@rbsolutions.com. Thanks.
It may have been taken down. Just send me an email Richard and I will send you it or anyone who wants it.
Jonathan, we are a partner and the link does not work. Perhaps it has been moved.
Thanks Richard. Looks like that is only available to partners. Send me an email and I will send you the info in it, jfear@microsoft.com
Jonathan, the first link gets me:

Hey Tim,
You mentioned a word that sparked a light bulb (like in the cartoons) which is XenApp. So we have had issues where reports are not working correctly using different types of Remote Application. I would be curious if they can reproduce the issue if they are logged directly onto the Citrix Server.
Also are these reports being printed to a file? If so make sure that Office or Adobe is installed directly on the Citrix machine. Otherwise we really need to stream in and see the environment and the issue occur.
As for the Best Practice guide I am not sure who you talked to but we don't White Paper doc for that. Here are a few KBs that might help:

Thanks for replying Jonathon. If you haven't heard/seen this, it makes me suspect our environment.
I can't have users on the SQL Server (ever). The client on the SQL Server is "clean" - only GP and common Third Party modules. We are running four companies, with four client "footprints", across a Citrix XenApp farm of 9 servers. These "stoppages" could also be XenApp related as XenApp was installed at the same time as Dynamics GP 2010.
At the last Convergence I attended (2012), one of your support engineers was supposed to be creating a Citrix deployment "best practices" guide. Was it ever finished or published?
Thanks
Tim
Hi Tim,
I cannot say I have ever heard of this. It sounds like you looked at the typically places for troubleshooting. What if you have the user do this process on the SQL Server?
