There was a similar thread that was started a few weeks ago. If you read it I think it might help.
You should have a separate branch for your production app within your source code management. You would then create a pull request from your development branch into your production branch that would include the files you need. You would then increment the app version number, build and deploy that .app file.

You have to create a separate project for the Production environment and make your changes and create app and install.
