Fixed rate check box on Journal names form: No field to specify the fixed rate

I am following the D365FO Financial Management training course and during the setup of a new journal name, you have the option to fix the exchange rate. According to the video, if I set the Fixed rate tick to Yes there should be another field where I can specify the exchange rate, however if I follow these steps in a demo environment there is no field.

When I create a journal an exchange rate is automatically pulled in, but I have no idea where the journal got it from.

I also checked the General Ledger parameters and couldn't see any fixed exchange rate field.

Where is this fixed exchange rate value set?

    Hi Liese-Marie,

If you create a new general journal, you can specify an exchange rate on the Setup tab page, before opening the lines.

Thanks so much André, this partially answers my question. Currently there is an exchange rate pulling through to the exchange rate field when I create a new journal. Where is that value pulled from? It matches the latest exchange rate for EUR-USD.

Is that where the fixed value is retrieved?

    Hi Liese-Marie Heyns,

Let's assume that company currency is USD.

If you set EUR on the header, and you don't have EUR to USD exchange rate (General ledger > Currencies > Currency exchange rates with Exchange rate type set on the Ledger), then

Calculated exchange rate =  100*(1/(Exchange rate/100)), where Exchange rate in this case the rate from USD to EUR

    Hi Liese-Marie,

An exchange rate is valid until there is a new record with a new date. So yes, it will pull the latest known exchange rate here.

    Thank you so much.
