We need to clarify how we set up our employees based on how they complete the withholding form for the state of Mississippi.
The employee state tax maintenance window does not follow the form 89-35-20-31-000 for the state of Mississippi. Can someone please help me understand how the maintenance screen need to be entered based on how the form is completed.
Personal exemptions check boxes how are they to be used?
Filing Status and number of dependents is straight forward.
When it comes to Married spouse employed Mississippi allows and employee to claim amount in multiples of $500.00. I do not see how you would do this.
Hello!
Thanks for using the forums. If you go to Tools | Setup | System | Payroll tax and pull up the state of MS.
Then you can see how the tax is structured a bit in the system and MS is not one of the easier ones :-)!
First you can see how there is a standard Deduction that comes right off the top, let's review HOH filing status
That standard deduction is 3400.00
Then it is Personal Exemptions for HOH that is 9500.00 this would be if you marked the SELF box on the stat tax record as an example.
MS also has a Dependent Exemption of 1500 and an age blindness exemption of 1500
Each filing status may vary on amounts, but you will get the idea and how it compares to the state form and what is entered by the employee and the amounts in each filing status on what needs to be used.
Hope this helps, thanks
Thanks

I'm having a close to issue as the others.
