Subcontracting setup

I’m working on a subcontracting setup where:

The Finished Good (FG) has BOM lines for RM and PM that are normally used for in-house production.
The same FG is also used for subcontracting.
Both the main warehouse and vendor warehouse belong to the same site.
The subcontracting operation uses a vendor-type resource, which has its own warehouse (vendor warehouse).

My goal:

When the subcontracting route/resource is used, I want D365 to automatically pick the vendor warehouse for RM and PM consumption—instead of the main warehouse that’s defined on the BOM or item coverage.

Since BOM and route versions can only be defined by site (not warehouse), I’m trying to find the best standard way to achieve this.

Has anyone configured something similar?

Can the system derive the warehouse from the resource or resource group? Or is the only clean way to handle it by using separate BOM/route versions (in-house vs subcontracting)?

Any proven setup or workaround would be really helpful.
