Records in Sub grid

Posted on by 1,299

Hi,

How to add only new records into the sub grid and not existing ones.

We have a sub grid with 1:N relationship in opportunity and when i click on + button, it does not give the main form of the related entity but gives a lookup, when i click on the lookup i get records that are associated with other opportunities(which i cannot select as they already have an another opportunity as parent) and a small +(new) button again, after i click on this button i get the main form of the related entity to create a record.

How do i get to this form in the first place when i click on the + button above the grid.

Thanks

    Hi Davyjones,

If you want to open the create opportunity form, then make the field mandatory of related lookup in the opportunity entity.

    For example:

Let's say you have Course and opportunity  entity(1:n)

Then in the opportunity  entity you have course lookup make that field as mandatory

    Hi Davyjones,

Below article explains how to make the + button open a new form.

    crmtipoftheday.com/.../make-a-subgrid-button-launch-a-new-record-form

"To control the behavior of the new record button on subgrids, look at the child entity being selected in the subgrid..If the lookup field for the parent is required, the user will get a “new record” form when clicking the + button. If the lookup field for the parent entity is not required on the child entity, the user will get the lookup field to “add existing."

Open the relationship and make the field mandatory. Refer this:
