Dynamics 365 Sales Hub: Calendar items remain blue when Color is bound to Priority

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to color-code calendar items by Priority (Low, Normal, and High) in the standard Calendar control in Dynamics 365 Sales Hub.

I have configured the Calendar control on both the Activity and Appointment tables. In the classic solution explorer, the Color property is bound to:

  • Field: Priority
  • Logical name: prioritycode
  • Type: **OptionSet
    **User's image

The attached screenshot shows this configuration on the Appointment table. The Activity table has the same Color binding.

Expected behavior: Calendar items use the colors defined for their corresponding Priority options.

Actual behavior: All calendar items appear in the same blue color.

The official release notes for version 9.2 22101 state: “Calendar control now supports custom color for calendar item.”

Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/released-versions/common-data-service/9.2-22101

Could anyone clarify the following?

Does the current standard Calendar control support color-coding through the standard Priority field?

Is additional configuration required, particularly when displaying Appointment records through an Activity view?

Is this behavior a known issue or limitation? If so, are there any official references or workarounds?

Thank you for your help.

The standard Dynamics 365 Calendar control supports custom colors for calendar items, as confirmed in the 9.2.22101 release notes. However, Microsoft does not document the standard prioritycode OptionSet as having an automatic Low/Normal/High-to-color mapping. Therefore, binding the Color property directly to prioritycode should not be expected to automatically produce different colors for each Priority value. The uniform blue rendering is consistent with the control falling back to its default event color. There is no clear Microsoft documentation confirming this as a product bug. The recommended approach is to test the Color binding with a field containing an actual supported color value. If business-required priority coloring cannot be achieved with the standard control, use a supported custom-calendar/PCF approach rather than relying on the Priority OptionSet binding.
