Transferring Items from a unspecified Location

I am doing some testing in the CRONUS US and there are several items where the QTY on Hand is not in a specified LOCATION.  How can I do a Transfer Order against an unspecified LOCATION?

An example is the CRONUS item of 1936-S that shows a QTY on HAND of 100 under the LOCATION of UNSPECIFIED. I want to move the quantities to the MAIN location.

I looked for the Item Reclass.Journals window, but assume that the Direct Transfer functionality has not been deployed in the instance yet.

I tried to do a transfer order but if I leave the Transfer-From code blank, I receive an error message. When I attempt select from the list, UNSPECIFIED is not selected.  So, how do I move Items from an unspecified location to a valid LOCATION?

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you for the question. Yes, it feels like we should be able to transfer from an unspecified location to a named location. I am checking on this to see if this is functionality that we should be expecting (id 214350).

At present, the simplest way to move the quantities is to pull up a given item in the Item Card and click on the arrow button behind the Quantity on Hand. There you can reduce the quantities from the unspecified location and increase the quantities in one or more named locations.

    Hi Tammy,

I attempted to do the steps you outlined above and receive the following error:

So, I assume the answer is no, it cannot be done.

    Hi Lisa,

Did you happen to mark the Location Mandatory checkbox in the Inventory Setup page? If so, then I believe that the Location Code is "more required" in these transactions, and that will raise yet another challenge for you while you have quantities that are presently in an unassigned location. I have NOT marked that checkbox, and was able to complete this process without the error.

Thanks Tammy. That was the issue.

    Hi Tammy,

Does this process generate a financial impact or it just changes the quantity?

I tried to change the quantity on hand as you suggested and works fine, but I didn't see any posting happening

is there another screen for that, or am I missing something in the setup?

    Thanks

    Ola

    Hi Ola,

Yes, there is financial impact. The easiest way to see it is to open the item in question in the Item Card, click on the Navigate tab on the ribbon, click on the Entries button, and choose Ledger Entries. In the list of Item Ledger Entries, you will see the Positive or Negative Adjmt. which was created by your change in quantity. Highlight this line and click on the Navigate button in the ribbon. This opens the Navigate page where you can see the Related Entries--including G/L Entries.
