Electronic Report - Convert to PDF is not working

Hi All,

Is anyone experiencing an issue with the electronic report destination's "convert to PDF" feature?

Error message: Failed to convert file 'Filename.docx' into PDF format with error: The conversion to PDF of the provided content type is not supported. Please, revise your settings or the running ER format. Contact your system administrator and provide the correlation ID ccf5da3d-3a4f-44d4-becc-37fc55b88c7d|7|415 if the problem persists.

The report was working fine before yesterday, and no updates have been made on our end.

    Hello,
     
    It works for me as well again. However, I think Microsoft changed something in the online services. I have recreated the print setup multiple times as I tested something else and it never worked for me so far.

    Hi everyone, seems like I was able to fix this issue on my side. I will gladly share you my solution, hoping that it will work for you too.
     
    Under "accounts receivable -> inquiries and reports -> forms -> form setup" you should open a new window where, under "General", you should have a link to "Print management".
     
    Once "print management" opened, find the specific invoice that is having issues on your side. In my case it was "Customer invoice -> Original <default>".
     
    Then I deleted that "Original <default>" entry and recreated it exactly as the one I deleted before.
     
    Now it's working for me. Maybe the deletion & recreation has done wonders, I can't explain really.

    Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and told they are working on it, meanwhile, to tackle this issue for the moment they have suggested a workaround to enable the feature "utilize application resources to perform CBD documents conversion from Word to PDF format."
     
    The Workaround however has limitations, where in Images cannot be dynamically generated and needs to hardcode in the report and there will be slight change in font styles as well. To handle the issue of font changing you can turn on the "Embed fonts in the file" option in source word file.

    Hi, Microsoft support confirmed that the problem is part of a larger situation: Dynamics product engineering team engagement: We are currently working on this issue under the internal incident-540898353.

    They gave me this workaround: The default PDF conversion utilizes the BCS conversion service from the Office online platform. Alternatively, you can convert .docx files directly on the AOS server. To enable local conversion, activate the feature: "Utilize application resources to perform CBD documents conversion from Word to PDF format."
    Enable this Electronic Reporting (ER) feature to convert business documents from Word to PDF using AOS resources rather than relying on an external conversion service.
     
    I tested it in our SAT environment. The feature is in preview mode. The created PDF has a different fomat, so no proper solution.
     
    In addition to keep the format stable:

    1. Export template from configuration. 
    2. In Microsoft word open the template and click File->Options->Save 
    3. Enable "Embed fonts in the file" 
    4. Disable "Do not embed system fonts" 
    5. Save document and upload as template back in the configuration.

    Same issue here, startet last Friday Sept. 6th. All our Envs are on 10.0.40. 
    And i also can´t find the "Convert Electronic Reporting outbound documents from Microsoft Office formats to PDF" feature in the feature management.

    This is Bug Global, Dynamics product engineering team engagement is currently working on this issue.
     
    Workaround:

    We are on 10.0.39 and experience the same issue. I would suggest to turn off "Convert to pdf" then the format excel\word is being created which can be saved as pdf manually.

    Electronic Report - Convert to PDF is not working
    Hi! Same experience in our environments. Both SAT ( 10.0.40 (10.0.1935.92) and Prod (10.0.40 (10.0.1935.69) show the error messages while creating the business documents. Microsoft cant reproduce the error currently. Error started last Friday, Sept 6th. Feature is not available.
     
    Keep you posted on the development on our side.

    i got the same issue with the electronic reporting converting to PDF.
    And i also can´t find the "Convert Electronic Reporting outbound documents from Microsoft Office formats to PDF" feature in the feature management.
    Does anyone have a solution for this?
