Accounting period

Hi

I have an issue with Accounting Periods in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

In most of the environments, when trying to select multiple periods as New Fiscal Year, Business Central does not allow it and displays a message.

The message:"It is not allowed to have more than two open fiscal years. Please fiscally close the oldest open fiscal year first."

However, in one specific environment, I am able to select multiple periods as New Fiscal Year without any error.

Thank you

    Hi @IC-07081113-0 ,

You should be able to create multiple years without any issues.

It seems there might be an extension which is preventing you to do so. Test scenario in standard Cronus environment without any custom extension.

    Hi @IC-07081113-0 ,
Which Localization is this, I have seen this error previously in the French Localization. But Global Business central Environment allowed us to create multiple fiscal years in one go.

This looks to be based off the localization in your environment. In my North American environment you can set the fiscal period close on any open periods.

Here is the error I get when setting New Fiscal Year as True on a closed period:

But for any period that isn't closed I can set as many new fiscal years as I want:

If you keep experiencing this problem id double check the French localization documentation and then maybe submit a ticket to microsoft or have your partner submit a ticket on your behalf.

    Hello @IC-07081113-0 ,

The environment where multiple years can be marked may have customization/localization behavior or a different configuration/version, so compare the country/region localization, BC version, and extensions between environments.

Hope this answer helps you as well!

    Regards,

    Hello,

This behavior is localization-specific: Microsoft documents that in the French version of Business Central, due to French fiscal requirements, the system must prevent creation of a third open fiscal year, which is why you receive the message “It is not allowed to have more than two open fiscal years…”. If another environment allows multiple New Fiscal Year selections, the first thing to compare is the country/region localization and installed localization apps between the environments; this restriction is not a general Business Central rule for all countries. If both environments are confirmed to use the same French localization and same BC version/apps, then I would treat the difference as something to investigate further with Microsoft Support.

I suggest having the developers debug it; that way, the problem can be identified more quickly.

    Thanks.
