I am planning an upgrade from Great Plains 7 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.
Is there a thumbsuck rule for how much free space on the SQL box is required to upgrade a 100GB database?

In the 10.0 upgrade documentation it gives you some scripts to run to figure out how much space you need for the upgrade. I also believe you will need to upgrade to 8.0 SP4 first, and THEN upgrade to 10.0.
