GP 2010 setup Employee HealthCare Benefit to be 50% of total Premium

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

In GP 2010, how can we setup a Benefit where the Employee pays 50% of the annual Healthcare Premium? The Fixed Amount method does not really work well when Plan changes occur mid-year, unless someone goes in and makes that change to each EE card. Is there also a place for the Deduction to account for the 50% the EE has to pay, other than the Fixed Amount option?

Thank you.

If I understand you question correctly, it seems that you have at least two possibilities.

First, when the amount changes mid-year use the "Master" screen "Microsoft Dynamics GP >> Tools >> Setup >> Human Resources >> Benefits and Deductions >> Health Insurance" and roll down the changes.

Second, you could setup the deduction as a Miscellaneous Benefit and have the Employer side be 100% of the deduction and the employee side be a fixed amount. Again when it changes mid-year go to the "Master" screen "Microsoft Dynamics GP >> Tools >> Setup >> Human Resources >> Benefits and Deductions >> Miscellaneous Benefits" and roll down the changes.

I would suspect that the first would be more desirable, and there is probably other ways of doing this that I did not think of while typing this reply.

    Hope this helps,

Let me ask this another way: Is there "any" version of GP or combination of Modules that will allow us to input one Healthcare Annual Premium amount per EE, and then have a 50% Deduction for the EE and a 50% Benefit covered by the Employer?
