Assigning workers to resources

Posted on by 459

Hi

Is there a way to assign a worker to a specific machine/resource for a specific period of time.

We would like to have a graph/list over all our machines and the worker that runs the machine per shift.

Date Resource - machine Id Morning - Worker Afternoon - Worker
2019-01-21 A1 207 312
2019-01-22 A1 207 312
2019-01-23 A1 208 312

    RE: Assigning workers to resources

Ax does not handle shifts as a concept. It has a lot of flexibility with resources e.g. capabilities -up to the point when the operations are scheduled then it decides which resources to use and you can see the results in the Gannt chart. The  problem thus is that the available options to use the Gannt chart means you need to dynamically change the resource every shift. You might consider a batch code for each shift with an operator serial number - but don't make either mandatory but it is not an option I would use and you would have to use Excel/Power BI to view it graphically. Other workaround based on capability or parallel operations seem similarly unattractive. .

Thanks for your answer Crispin, but I really don't see how that can help. The thing I'm trying to achieve is more a visual thing, since I think it will be really hard to have the calendars (available capacity) being updated by changing if the machine has a worker assigned or not. But of course that would be really nice.
