Accessing "Page Table Field" (2000000171) in Business Central SaaS

I am trying to extract field tooltips (including page-level overrides) in Business Central SaaS.

I found that table 2000000171 "Page Table Field" contains the required metadata mapping between pages and table fields. However, this table has Scope = OnPrem, and I cannot access it in a Cloud extension.

My requirement is to generate a list (e.g., HTML export) of tooltips used across pages.

Questions:

  1. Is there any supported way in SaaS to access page-level tooltip metadata?

  2. Are there alternative APIs or system tables that expose this information?

  3. What is the recommended approach for extracting full tooltip metadata in Cloud environments?

Any guidance or best practices would be appreciated.

    Hello,
In SaaS, not really in a fully supported runtime way. The metadata you want exists conceptually, but the table you found (2000000171 Page Table Field) is OnPrem-only, and I’m not aware of any supported cloud API/system table that exposes the full effective tooltip map per page field, including page-level overrides. Microsoft’s docs only describe how tooltips are defined: from 2024 wave 1 onward, a tooltip can live on the table field and be inherited by pages, and a page field tooltip overrides the table-field tooltip if defined. But that does not come with a documented SaaS metadata endpoint to enumerate all resolved tooltips at runtime. So the recommended cloud-safe approach is usually source/symbol analysis, not runtime table access: analyze your AL source and referenced symbol packages (.app) offline to extract table-field tooltips plus page/page-extension overrides, then build your HTML export from that. In other words: supported in SaaS = compile-time metadata extraction, not reading internal metadata tables from an extension.
