SSRS report error

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have created report using Report Authoring Extension. When I add fetchXML to the Querry designer I get error:
"Could not update a list of fields for the query. Verify that you can connect to the data source and that your query syntax is correct.
The attribute "new_ponumber" cannot be found for entity "opportunity". Specify a valid query, and try again."
It seems like when ever I add any custom field in fetchXML I am receiving the same error.
Any help will be appretiated.

thank you all for give your usefull suggesions. Actully the problem was that I was adding wrong organization name in connection string . Once I add the correct organization name the issue is solved and now I am able to use custom fields in SSRS reporting tool.

Have you appended the organisation unique name to the end of the connection string. This can be found under the developer resources under Customizations.

I am having the correct organization name and the user is system administrator so there is no issue of permissions.

Can you clarify the issue. Is it that you can a fetchXML query will work if it has no custom fields, but it fails if you include a custom field ?

If so, two things to check are:

    • Are you connecting to the correct CRM organisation ?
    • Has your account permissions to access this organisation ?
