Two cross entity, Filter records without link

Posted on by 815

Hi,

I have 3 entity as Customer, PM and System Details. there is a lookup created between Customer and System  and there is NO lookup with PM.

On the PM entity will create sub grid to Customer entity and System entity.

Now requirement is  on the PM entity, it should filter records related to customer, can this possible without creating lookup ? Is there a way?

Regards

Faisal

    Hi Syed,

Did you check if you already have a lookup? Subgrid & Lookup are created based on the relationshipship. If you create 1:N relationship between PM & System entity that it will automatically create a lookup of System on PM and Subgrid of System on PM.

Could you please check what relationship you have? As I said above, if its 1:N then you will have a lookup and can add the filter.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Sayed ,

Yes if you say you will use create lookup that is the good idea. You can not create lookup without link as relationship will automatically create when you create any lookup field from child entity.

So whats your requirment? do you want to filter the records or show all records. You can selext the desired option from the subgris properties.

    Hi Ravi,

    Hi Syed,

No I stating that if you have 1:N relationship then you will already have a lookup field so you can filter it with that field. Check your relationship again.

    Hi Ravi,

I think you are suggesting to create N:N relationship.

RE: Two cross entity, Filter records without link

    Hi,

When you create a lookup, it automatically creates a relationship between the records in such a way that 1 entity gets  the lookup and other entity gets the subgrid depending upon the way fro 1:N which you can use to filter records based on the loookup.

So if you have a subgrid of Customer and System entity on PM entity, this means you already have a PM entity lookup on Customer & System entity (Unless you have a N:N). I would suggest to check/ review your relationship and see if it already exists.

    Hope this helps.
