Management Reporter installation error

Posted on by 235

I have just installed management reporter-sp1 version2.0 on a windows server 2008(sp1) R2  (64-bit) system.

I successfully installed the microsoft management reporter server and client applications (on this same OS)  without any issues. Soon as I try to run the report designer,it displays an error message thus "CAN'T CONNECT TO THE MANAGEMENT REPORTER SERVER,DO YOU WANT TO SPECIFY A DIFFERENT SERVER ADDRESS?"  When I say yes,it displays a window where I input the server details + port number in this format (http://servername:4712). When I click on "test connection" it displays another error message "version of the database is incorrect. Install the correct database".

I have replaced the server name with the IP address of the server,I have also ensured that the required services (IIS;.NET and WCF services) are all functional and working as supposed. I have also tried installing the client application on a client system and attempted connecting to the server, using the same paramteres, but without luck.

Please kindly assist me to rectify this issue.

Which version of Dynamics GP are you using?

    Hello Jeff,

Many thanks for your assistance. I really appreciate.

I have tried installing the MR2012 but it persistently gives the error message of "inability to configure the Microsoft dynamics GP database."

Perhaps I forgot to mention that this installation is being performed on a virtual server. Does this have any implication whatsoever? I am asking this beacause I was able to install (management reporter-sp1 version2.0 ) on the physical server and I successfully connected the report designer to the database without breaking a sweat.

    Thanks.

    Hello Nnamdi,

I would start by installing the latest version of Management Reporter 2012 off of CustomerSource (link below).  I would also note that MR2012 removed the IIS requirement, and included a configuration console that should assist you with install.

    Thanks,

    Jeff
