Pj Allocation batch deleted in GL

Posted on by 136

We had a Project allocation batch that wouldn't post into the GL. The user used initialize mode to delete it instead of correcting the issue with the batch. The batch posted to projects so my question is how do we correctly fix the issue.

I had suggested posting a project charge to reverse the original batch of allocations then rerun the allocator in recalc mode to create the a new batch. Is this the correct way to fix the issue? I'm concerned the recalc won't work if they already allocated the entries. Please let me know if I missed a step.

Thank you, Linda Smith

That's much less work so we will do the JE then update in SQL.

Thank you for the great advise!

    Dear LSmith,

You can put in a journal transaction to the unbilled accounts, but you will have to use the non post project so it won't go back and update project.  You can update the gl tran records with the project id, or use a project ID in the Journal Detail line and update the gltran records pc_status to a 2 BEFORE releasing so it doesn't update project.

Project charge will work  but then you will have to put in a batch of new transactions to the cost accounts to get allocator to a back out and repost to re allocate them to the unbilled accounts again and update GL.  Backing out unbilled will not cause an allocation because they are not the source accounts.

    Best Regards,

I've been thinking about the entries and I don't think a recalc will work. I think they must post a detailed JE to record the original deleted batch. This will offset the project charge that they posted so the end result should balance projects to the GL.

Let me know if you agree.
