Running the financial multi-currency revaluation

Posted on by 60

My company starting using Dynamics GP 2010 for the past couple of months.

We are having some problems around the 'Financial multicurrency revaluation process'.  My superior, noticed that some of the exchange rates used (convert USD into CDN) appear to be off.   I am inquirng how can do i go about explaining the average exchange rate calculation.

In addition, would you run the Purchasing multi-currency revaluation; if your company only uses the purchase module to pay invoices.

Regards,

Courtney

    Good afternoon Ian and Tariq,

i was able to try out the calculation that you suggested.  However, i had to use the reciprocal value of The total sum of all orignating transaction amounts/Total sum of all functional transaction amounts. in order to match the average exchange rate in GP.

    Does that sound right?

    Regards,

    Courtney

Agreed with Tariq - it can be a hard one to reconcile especially if you have a large number of transactions - but the calculation is correct and it works as intended. I too have run into this when people get unexpected results - but GP is always correct.

    Barrett !

I spent a lot of time finding how average exchange rate is calculated and finally found the answer.

Average Exchange rate is calculated by dividing/multiplying (depending upon the calculation method for the originating currency) sum of all Originating Transaction Amounts by/to sum or all functional transaction amounts.

I have verified it for different accounts and found the calculation to b right.
