How to export all BOM structure from BC?

Hello everyone,

BOM structure under item card can show per top item breakdown in different levels WIPs and raw material, including work centers. Under production BOM I can only view next layer materials.

I use page inspection and fond the BOM structure page is a temporary page. Is there a way to export all the BOM structure in the system? How can I do that?

Thanks!!!

Shinee

How to export all BOM structure from BC?
    Hello All,

I don't think the answers below worked.

I wanted to have a report like BOM structure showing all different level of ingredients including work center and machine centers.

I am not able to get the report from a standard page.

Is there a build in report with similar functionality?

    Hi Shinee,

export all the Bills of Materials (BOMs) to Excel using Configuration Packages in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a practical solution. This approach allows you to easily extract and manipulate the data outside of the system. Here's how you can proceed:

Steps to Export BOMs Using Configuration Packages

    1. Create a Configuration Package:

      • Navigate to the Configuration Packages page in Business Central.
      • Create a new package and give it a meaningful name (e.g., "Export BOMs").
    2. Add the Required Tables:

      • Add the following two tables to the configuration package:
        • Production BOM Header (Table 99000771): This table contains the general information about each BOM, such as the BOM number, description, and status.
        • Production BOM Line (Table 99000772): This table contains the detailed component information, including item numbers, quantities, and unit of measure.
    3. Select the Fields to Export (Optional):

      • For each table, you can customize the fields to include in the export by selecting Table Fields within the configuration package.
      • Include only the fields you need to make the Excel file concise and relevant.
    4. Export the Data:

      • Once the tables are added and configured, click Export to Excel.
      • The system will generate an Excel file containing the BOM data from the selected tables.

Perhaps exporting all the BOMs to Excel using Configuration Packages could help? To do this, you would need to export the following two tables:

    • Production BOM Header (Table 99000771)
    • Production BOM Line (Table 99000772)

As you mentioned the "Structure" view is temporary, but it can be "Open in Excel" if you are needing it for a specific Item.

You could also use the Cost Shares Breakdown report and send it to Excel.  It isn't exactly the same, and the formatting isn't great, but it will get you the BOM level information.  I don't think it includes the sub-assembly Routings though, so it isn't a complete picture.
