We're currently using the standard Order Promising functionality in Business Central.

Is there any standard functionality, Job Queue, or AppSource solution that can automatically recalculate Order Promising (ATP) for multiple open sales orders when inventory availability changes, rather than having to open and process each sales order individually?

If you've implemented this, I'd be interested to know what approach you took.

I'm not personally affiliated with insight works but they have a good order fulfillment worksheet i've implemented for clients in the past that can help look at managing orders for clients similar to your scenario.

The standard procedure requires you to perform the Actions > Plan > Order Promising operation in each order to refresh the order promising lines.

This is a temporary table; you could discuss with your partners whether a simple customization could be implemented to resolve this issue.

Standard Business Central calculates ATP/CTP from the Order Promising Lines page for the selected sales order lines; Microsoft does not provide a standard batch report or Job Queue that automatically recalculates and accepts new promised dates across all open sales orders whenever availability changes. The usual solution is a small customization that filters eligible open sales orders, runs the standard order-promising logic for their lines, and is scheduled through the Job Queue, with clear rules on whether dates should be updated automatically or only suggested for review. Be careful with fully automatic updates, because changing one order’s promised date can affect the availability calculated for later orders. For AppSource options, you would need to evaluate an advanced order-management or supply-chain planning app against your specific allocation and priority rules.

The standard Order Promising functionality in Business Central is designed to calculate ATP/CTP on demand for individual sales orders. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a standard Job Queue or background process that automatically recalculates Order Promising for all open sales orders whenever inventory availability changes.

If this automation is required, the typical approach is to develop a custom solution that runs via a Job Queue. The process can identify open sales orders affected by inventory changes and invoke the Order Promising logic to recalculate ATP dates in bulk. Some ISVs may offer advanced planning or ATP enhancements on AppSource, but I'm not aware of a standard Microsoft extension that provides this functionality out of the box.

Hi,

no, out of the box there is nothing that batch-runs ATP across open orders, Order Promising is a per-order action, you open the sales order and go Actions, Order Promising from there. There is no standard page or job queue codeunit that loops sales order lines and recalculates promising dates automatically when stock changes, at least not that I know in current versions.

What I did on one client, we built a small job queue codeunit that goes through open sales lines with a shipment date in the future, checks availability delta since last run and just flags the ones affected, then a user reviews and reopens Order Promising only on those. Never fully automated it to change dates without eyes on it, felt too risky for a discrepancy with customer commitments. I also seen an AppSource-ish addon mentioned in a blog post recently for a "promising worksheet" with scheduled recalculation of statuses through job queue, have not tested that one myself though.
