Server Side Sync - high CPU on Exchange

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi!

Environment:  CRM 2016 Update 1.1 on-prem, one application server on database server; Exchange on-prem 2016

Since turning on the SSS for CRM the Exchange Server has a high CPU load (80-95%). Number of users: 400.

Is this a "normal" behavior, because we use the recommended settings for SSS on CRM side.

We also think that this high CPU load might cause the following issue: we have a service email account on exchange. Emails from that account are put into a queue. At the weekend already to CRM synced emails and already closed queue items get reactivated in CRM again. It seems that the old emails got overwritten by another email sync from exchange, beause the emails do not exists twice in the system. It looks like they were just created newly.

My assumption here is that exchange re-sends the emails to CRM, because it does not get any feeback from CRM that the email was received. And that because of the high CPU load.

Any ideas on then issue? I did not find any similar issues in the internet or I use the wrong search terms...

Thanks!
