RMS 2.0 FP1 upgrade

Posted on by 4,025

Hi everyone.

I have a strange error when upgrading RMS 2.0 SP3, installed on a brand new Windows 7 SP1 machine. When I try to upgrade to Feature Pack 1, the instalattion goes without problem, but the product version in both HQ and SO at the end is 2.0.0130 and not 2.0.0150, as described in Customer/Partner Source (https://mbs.microsoft.com/Cms/Templates/document/General.aspx?NRMODE=Published&NRNODEGUID=%7bC4782B2D-3A58-4090-BEE0-407F0ED8E197%7d&NRORIGINALURL=%2fcustomersource%2fdownloads%2fhotfixes%2f20sphf-v2&NRCACHEHINT=Guest ). After this, when trying to install SP4 i get the error message that the product version is not correct.

This is not the case on other machine, I've tryed comparing the machines, but I can't find the reason why is this happening...

Any idea?

Thanks in advance, A.

It may be time to whack and reload Windows 7.  We have a customer with a weird one too.  It cannot update to FP1, but all other previous updates worked fine.

We even uninstalled RMS and deleted all registry and folders from the machine, but it still will not update past .0165

Suggested to client to reload Windows 7 too.

    Hi Jeff, thanks for replying.

I've tryed what you suggested, changing the regional settings and reinstalling everything, but no luck... There must be I'm missing something...

    Regards, A.

Try changing to US Date and US English and see it that makes a difference.

I doubt this is a 64bit issue as I have RMS running on a Win 7 Pro 64bit in my off using the same three installations.  I would try down loading the latest version of the base RMS program from customer source.  That gave me RMS2.0.0105.  Then the Feature Pack 1 which I don't remember changing the version and then SP4 which gave me 2.0.0155.  If it any help, MS makes this a PITA and I feel your pain.

Hi rpoage and thanks for the reply.

I just tryed what You suggested and I still have the same error "The expected version of the product was not found on your system". After installig the FP1, the product version is 2.0.0130 and not v2.0.0150.

I'm executing the updates with Administrator rights and I have UAC disable... There must be some issue with the x64 based operating systems...

    Any other idea??

    Kind regards, A.

I just rebuilt a machine and here is the order I used

    MSDRMS20_SO_enUS   1st

    Retail2.0-KB982484 Feature Pack 1 2nd

    Retail2.0-KB2468453 SP4 3rd

    This gives me 2.0.0155
