Resource Scheduling Optimization over multiple days breaking for work hours.

Posted on by 225

I am new the Field Services and have been asked the 'split' work orders.  So, if someone works 8 hour days, based on their work hours, and a work order is created that is '1 day' in length.  Is there a way to have the RSO break it into 3 days of 8 hours?

It will do this when I dont use the RSO automation.

By default, the system creates 1 resource requirement (RR) for 1 work order. When you use manual scheduling, you get 3 bookings for the same RR. RSO only takes a single RR and tries to book it. RSO cannot split a RR.

One option would be to create 3 RRs, 8 hours each. RSO would try to schedule all 3, but keep in mind that based on demand and capacity it might only be able to schedule 1 or 2 of 3, or even none.

If you explain the exact use case, there might be other alternatives.
