Document Attach in GP 2013

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

All -

Could you please advise on best practices for Document Attach features within GP 2013?  When you attach a document to a company, does it become part of that company database or just a link to a file share?  Anything I need to take into account before enabling this feature.  Thanks much.

After the file is attached, it will be incorporated into the database and it is no longer necessary to keep the file on the hard drive. If you mark for it to delete the file, it will delete it after attachment.

    Awesome.  Thank you, Leslie.

In the setup, the default location seems to be a file share, and then there's an option to delete the file from default location after attachment.. does this mean that after a file is attached, it'll be removed from the file share and save into that company's database?

    Hi,

The new document attach feature works differently than the old OLE. The document actually is saved as a blob file in the company's database. They are in table CoAttachMSTR.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
