Is it possible to hide a specific field, such as 'Amount,' in a table 17?

Is it possible to hide a specific field, such as 'Amount,' in a table 17 so that users can access the table but cannot view or personalize that field when using the personalization tools on a page in Microsoft Business Central?

Sorry, I was not clear. Using security filters alone won’t let you hide the amount field in table 17 while keeping all records and other fields visible. If that’s your only goal, security filters won’t be effective.

However, it’s generally not standard practice to hide this field while allowing full visibility of everything else in the table. Is there a specific reason you need this? Accessing all GL entries without the amounts doesn’t provide much value, and if you want to hide the amounts then you might as well hide all data in the table.

Typically, you want users to view all GL accounts for reference in table 15 while still having access to table 17, but without seeing specific details for the posted entries in table 17, including any amounts. If that’s what you’re trying to achieve, then permissions with security filters will work. I’ve included a blog post here that explains this in more detail. Personally, I would recommend this method instead of hiding the amount field.

you could also consider create a profile which make certain field invisible by hiding. Then assign the profile to a user.

As far as I know, it cannot be done other than customization.
Because you need to hide fields, not records, the Security Filter has no effect.

If the field you want to hide is a Flowfield or TableRelation field, you can hide it using the following permission method.
Dynamics 365 Business Central: What happens if users don’t have permission to read the table set in a FlowField?
Dynamics 365 Business Central: What happens if users don’t have permission to read the table set in the TableRelation Property?

Hope this can give you some hints.
    Thanks.

You can look into using security filters which should be able to help you hide data in specific fields from users - Using Security Filters in Business Central - Business Central | Microsoft Learn
