Sales Power BI App LCY Issue

Hello,

I'm having an issue with Microsoft's pre-built Sales Power BI App and Local Currencies. The LCY is CAD, but Power BI is picking up the USD amount from the sales invoice. The Posted Sales Invoice line is in USD, but the G/L entry is in CAD as it should be. How can I get Power BI to actually pick up the correct CAD LCY amount? Is this a Power BI issue or a BC Setup issue? Please see the attached screenshots.

What version of the Power BI report are you on? If you are on the most recent version you should be able to actually click on that Sales amount and drill in to the values and see the breakdown.

For example here is my Power BI:

Clicking on that value takes me to BC:

It looks like the Sales (LCY) is actually pulling data from the Value Entries table and not the Customer Ledger Entries table but I have items in my example. Maybe see if you can find that customer ledger entry and check the Sales (LCY) field:

Seems to be a weird quirk with how the Sales (LCY) is calculated in the Power BI report. Maybe updating to the latest version will help.

This is a Microsoft standard report. Below are the Data Sources.

If you have any questions, you can download the PBIX file in the latest version to view the details.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,
This looks more like a Power BI Sales app model/measure issue than a BC posting setup issue. Your G/L Entry is correct in CAD, but the Microsoft Sales app has measures that pull from different sources: some sales measures use Sales Invoice Line Amount, which is the document/invoice currency amount, while other LCY-style measures use Value Entries / Sales Amount Actual. So if your visual is showing USD under a field labeled Sales (LCY), I would first inspect that measure in the semantic model and replace it with a measure based on Value Entry - Sales Amount (Actual) for posted sales, not Posted Sales Invoice Line Amount. In short: BC seems posted correctly; the report is probably using the wrong source/measure for LCY.

    Hi,
This is not really a BC setup wrong, your G/L is correct in CAD like you say. The thing is the Sales Power BI app does not read the Sales (LCY) from the G/L Entry. The Sales (LCY) measure is built from the value entries and sales line amounts, Sales Amount Actual and the invoice line amounts, not from the G/L LCY figure. So on a foreign currency invoice it can show you a number that line up with the document amount instead of the posted CAD LCY, that is why you see the 2,634.24 matching the USD side.
So it is more how the standard app is wired than a posting problem. The value entry amount it sum is not the same field as the G/L Amount (LCY) you highlighted.

If you need the real CAD, easiest is to base that measure on the G/L or customer ledger Amount (LCY) instead, but that mean editing the app dataset.

Glad to help - follow up if anything is unclear.
â–º  If this solved it, marking it verified helps others too.
