Is this possible?  Are there any workarounds?

RE: Multidimensional Analysis with Revenue/Expense Deferrals

    Hello again, Shannon

That's no problem.  And that's what we're doing now - adding the codes in each journal entry.  That can be some work, though, when the deferrals go out 12 months or so.  I was hoping for an easier solution.  :)

    Thank you for your response,

    Deborah

    Hi Deborah,

I apologize for that, typically we see people use MDA and AA interchangeably but overall meaning AA, so I just assumed that you were meaning AA as well. Specifically for MDA, if you assign the analysis code when doing the initial entry, the MDA Analysis Code will be updated for the full amount. If you want it updated in the same periods as the Revenue/Expense Deferral journal entries, you must assign the Analysis Code to each journal entry in the ALTRN batch in General Ledger. You must be posting 'to' to do this. The ALTRN posting settings are available in the Setup - Financial - Deferral screen.

    Hi Shannon,

Actually my question is regarding RED with Multidimensional Analysis, not Analytical Accounting.

    Thanks,

    Deborah

    Hi There,

With regards to your question regarding whether or not RED integrates with Analytical Accounting?

The answer is that at this time, there is limited compatibility between RED and AA. To assign AA codes to RED deferral entries, your options are:

Option 1 - Post the batch to GL and add/edit the AA dimension codes in the GL Work batch before posting.

Option 2 - Post the batch in GL and then use the Edit Analysis window to add/edit the AA dimension codes. (To open this window, click on Transactions, point to Financial, point to Analytical Accounting and click on Edit Analysis.)

Option 3 - Enter default AA dimension codes on the Accounting Class in Analytical Accounting, so these default codes get assigned to the deferral entries. However, you would still need to use one of the two options above to make any changes to the AA data, if desired. (To open this window, click on Cards, point to Financial, point to Analytical Accounting and click on Accounting Class.)

    I hope this information helps.
