Multicurrency

Posted on by 75

Hello

We are currently trying to fix our multicurrency in our accounts as it appears to be out, but it seems the only way to look at all the transactions in the accounts is to run a smartlist. Smartlist does everything we require it to do except I cannot seem to find an option where I can see the revalued amount of the transaction. Eg US$200 equals AUD$240.

Does anyone know if smartlist can show the revalued amount for multicurrency

Thanks in advance for your help

Chris

    Re: Multicurrency
In SmartList (I am assuming you are using the Account Transaction object), there are fields that will show you both the foreign currency amount as well as the functional currency amount.  Try adding the columns 'Originating Debit Amount' and 'Originating Credit Amount'.  You should already have 'Debit Amount' and 'Credit Amount' columns in your view.  Also add 'Currency ID' and 'Exchange Rate' to give you a full picture of the transactions.

The 'Originating Debit' and 'Originating Credit' fields will give you the foreign currency amount, or more accurately the original amount the transaction was entered in.  The 'Debit' and 'Credit' fields will give you the translated functional currency amount of the entries.  The 'Currency' field will let you know which currency was used to enter the transaction and the 'Exchange Rate' field will tell you what rate was used to translate the entry.

Now the one thing you may have trouble with is if you ran any kind of 'Revaluation' process at month end.  There is no way (that I am aware of) to include the revalued amount for each transaction, only the translated amount of the entry.

     Hope this helps

    Joe
