Posting of receivables batches vs payables batches

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Has anyone else experienced slower posting of receivables batches as compared with payables batches in GP2010?

I have a client whose receivables batches take 4 times as long as the payables batches (with the same volume). For example 1 hour for RM 400 transactions and 15 mins for PM Transactions.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Do you think the size of the database (45 GB) and RM10101 tables would effect performance? (they've recently added new RAM to the SQL server)

They are on SQL 2008R2 and GP2010.

many thanks

KJ

    Dear Leslie,

Correct me if I am wrong. By open I  that the PO transactions for that item which are not received completely through Receiving Transaction Entry.

I think it mainly relates to number of customers / suppliers.  In general, you will probably always have more customers.  I know that for some of my sites that I support things are slower in receivables - especially if they sell to lots of customers - and not necessarily repeat customers.  I.e. lots of customer cards, one or two transactions on each.

Doing processes like paid transaction removal definitely will help.

One other question - are the invoices you are raising via SOP or RM?  And are they inventory related transactions?

    Cheers

    Heather

Thanks Bill. No workflow setup and no 3 rd party that relates to the receivables batches window. I've done a paid transaction removal and we're down to 2 times slower which is better.

Do you think in general that receivables will be slower than payables - or would it relate more to the table sizes?

    thanks

Do you have any workflow setup - do you have any added 3rd party that might be affecting only RM?

Just a bit more information will help.
