Thanks Sanjay, I used the function you suggested and was able to get the result the client was looking for thanks for posting the suggestion.

Report writer has function RW_ConvertToWordsAndNumbers which converts currency value to words and numbers. This function uses the following parameters
Modify your report or check to provide the correct currency id at the second parameter.

I know this is stupid, but this is standard functionality. In order to have it print you will need the Multilingual Check Printing module.
