Need suggested approach - Analysis cubes to include non-GP data

Posted on by 860

Im looking at building a data warehouse (DW).  Most of the data will be in an instance for GP 2010, but there is some additional data in another database which I want to include in  one or more of the cubes.

For example, sales.  Some of the details for the sales havent made it into GP yet, and we want to be able to see those corresponding items associated with that sale in order to correlate where the shortages are.

That implies that I am going to need to either modify the SSIS packages that come with the GP analysis cubes install, or build seperately.  I think the preferred route will be to build a seperate SSIS package to pull over this "extra" detail information and populate a table in the DW which would then be used as a dimension in one or more of the cubes and the corresponding pivot table reports.

Suggestions or comments appreciated.
