How do you do Special Orders in RMS with HQ

We order (occasionally ie. the odd item) from a few suppliers that just give us a new catalogue once a year.

I am wondering if any of you have experience ordering items from suppliers like this with RMS. If so, how do you do it?

I was imagining creating an item called supplier x special order and have the prompt to enter price then adding the item number into the sale comments section.

Each supplier offers between 10 and 40 000 products, some duplication and I would like to avoid importing the whole list from all of these guys so we don't have the (enormous) headache of trying to keep track of changes to all these items (new items, discontinued, changes in price, cost, etc.)
