Field Service Partner Portal Access Question

Posted on by 375

If you have outside contractors performing services but are NOT D365 users, can they via a portal, access:

  • Work Orders assigned to them
  • The schedule board (doubt it but figured I'd ask); If not the schedule board, a calendar with their assignments for the day
  • Customer assets and info related to their work order assignments

I am relatively new to portals and they seem pretty complex at first glance.

RE: Field Service Partner Portal Access Question

Hi Moko33, sorry for the delay, just returned from holidays. Sales license and FS license have the same price point. The only other option is the CE Plan license that includes sales, service and field service. For a single user the CE Plan is more expensive, but it uses tier pricing, which means that from a certain user number threshold it will be cheaper than the apps.

RE: Field Service Partner Portal Access Question

    Hi Alexander,

I guess this is outdated than: that there is a difference whether the FS Partner Portal User would work under your companies name or under another companies name (not belonging to your enterprise)? I think some time ago for the latter one there was no licence required at all...

However when I read the licencing guide from Oct 2018 (page 34)  it gives me the impression that a Sales licence would be enough for FS Portal Users to utilize/update Work Orders on the portal... Isn't this licence cheaper than the FS licence?

    Please help me to understand/clarify.

Appreciate the clarification.  That was my concern that even subcontractors then will need a license.

Sorry if this was unclear, with "FS app" I meant the Field Service license, which either comes as a so-called FS app license or a Customer Engagement plan.

To be clear, the FS app would then require them be licensed as a standard full system user?

They need both the partner portal (licensed based on page views) AND the FS app (for all subcontractor users).
