CRM 2015 installation on multiple servers

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

Is it possible to install CRM 2015 front end server roles, back end server roles and CRM backend SQL server, all in separate servers? If yes, can someone share how it is possible during installation?

Earlier i have installed back end server roles and SQL server on one server and CRM front end on another server but all three in different servers is now what i am looking for?

Thanks in advance!

Addition to Aric's comment , you can follow below blog from yashwanth - its very clean and tidy.

basically once you have installed SQL on one server - you can install CRM on other server - after configuring the required component like .net  , server roles , you will get a window like below where it will ask  you to connect to SQL server , and will create the CRM databses while installation:

    hope it goes smooth :)

mark my suggestion as verified if helpful.

You don't need to really deal with that. Follow the instructions here, and you should be golden.

Since each server connects to your SQL Server and the Configuration database, you don't have to worry about that connectivity. From what I remember you never specify that. You just need to know the SQL Server name.

Your CRM Server and SQL Server are completely separate.

This means that you can install your SQL Server, and then install your CRM Server on two separate servers (one front end and one back end).

If that is what you are looking for, then no problem.
