How do I remove HR from an existing HR & PR implementation?

Does anyone have any experience stopping the use of the HR module in GP after using HR/PR together for many years? A customer wants to end the integration specifically between the HR Benefit Codes (like Health Insurance, Life Insurance, etc...) and associated PR benefits and deductions, but continue to use the Payroll module with those same PR Ben/Ded codes like they always have.

I suggested that we may want to un-register the HR module and see how it behaves, but they are concerned this might make looking at some of the HR history via reports, inquiries and SmartList unavailable, which I agree probably would. I know there is a reconcile utility in HR to update benefit enrollment and create those links between the HR codes and PR codes. Is there a utility (or some other method) to sever that link? Does anyone know if I can simply delete the HR Benefit codes without disturbing the associated PR codes? I tried this in a TEST db and get a message telling me "you must first delete this code in the Employee Benefit Maintenance window in Payroll" which we do not want to do.

    Hello!

I would first suggest is there possibly some training and cleanup of codes and processes that could help this customer gain efficiencies and value of using the HR module?

Otherwise, to sever the links with HR, and possibly still keep it registered for utilizing HR module features other than Benefits/Deductions, you could clear out the BE010130 and BE020230, and there may be other history tables as well. Then do NOT run the HR Reconcile utility if you don't plan to use the HR Benefits & Deductions.  Yes this absolutely may affect reports, if they include the HR tables.

Do you have a test environment? You will need to remove the HR module from your DYNAMICS.SET file to start. If you also have GP Power Tools you could then use that tool to look for inconsistencies. Once you are successful in TEST you could apply it to production.
