Importing address using Integration Manager

Posted on by 60

When importing an address into Dynamics GP 10.0 using Integration Manager, does the address ID have to exist in the system, or will it be created if it does not exist?

For example, I want to import 1,000 addresses that each have a unique ID that I have specified. When I import the address, will it create the address ID using the unique ID that I have specified?

    hello victoria

thanks for the reponse, it was starting to dawn on me that this might have to be done as a seperate intergration.

although your 2nd suggestion might be an option, as addresses dont neccesarily need to be saved. ill give this a try.

    many thanks

    Kieren,

If you want to save the new ship to address for the customer (for future use) then you need to import that first and assign it an address ID.  Once the address ID exists in GP, you can then import a sales order using that address ID.  This is why are are getting the error, you cannot do both imports at the same time.  One at a time and in the right order.

Alternately, you can import a sales order with a ship to address that you (for lack of a better term) manually enter for that order.  This address does not have to exist in GP as one of the customer's address ID's, nor does it get saved as a new address ID for the customer.  With this method the ship to address will only be saved with the sales order and any transactions that get created from that sales order, but it cannot be reused as it does not get saved as a new address for customer and it does not get assigned an address ID.

    Hope that helps.

encountering the same error trying to use intergration manager for import of sales orders.

i am using a constant for the debtor account, but want it to create new ship to addresses each time.

from what i read above it should add a new address, but instead i get an error:

    "Address ID does not exist"

Re: Re: Re: Re: Importing address using Integration Manager

This question also relates to address ID.  I use the intergration manager trying to import a bunch of new customers.
The source csv file has the customer id, customer name, address, phone,
email, address id, ship to address id, bill to address id etc.

After the importing, I found the address ID is created but the address is
    blank.

So I went to table import to import the address but it says the address ID
    is already existed.

Then I ran the table import again and name the address ID differently and it
seems working and now how can I update the statement id, ship to id and bil
to id address field with table import?

I also wanted to import the emaill address for sending statement but the
table import is not working.  How can I use table import to enter the email
address and check the email statement box under the customer card?

Is there a way to remove an address ID for a bunch of customers as well?  Thanks

Re: Re: Re: Importing address using Integration Manager

    Mike,

I must have misunderstood your original question.  Let's clarify:

If you want to import multiple addresses for a customer, then the customer either has to be already in GP, or you need to import the customer first.  To simply import new addresses, the address IDs do not have to be created first.

If you want to import sales orders, then the customer, the address ID and inventory items (if you're using them) have to all be already in GP, or you need to import them first, before importing the sales order.

I tried importing a sales order with an address and address id that did not exist and got the following response:

Opening source query...Establishing source record count...Beginning integration...DOC 1 ERROR: Ship To Address ID 'TEST' does not exist.DOC 2 WARNING: 'Override Shortage' option was selected for quantity shortage on line 1 for item ANSW-PAN-1450.DOC 2 ERROR: Ship To Address ID 'TEST' does not exist.Integration FailedIntegration Results    2 documents were read from the source query.    2 documents were attempted:        0 integrated without warnings.        0 integrated with warnings.        2 failed to integrate.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Mike,

Yes, if you are doing an 'insert' in Integration Manager the address IDs will be created in GP, they do not have to already be there.
