Best Practices Rebuild GP Indexes

Posted on by 75,730

I was called in to look at a GP database because users noticed a slowdown in performance.

Upon running dm_db_index_physical_stats on the company databases I found over 160 tables where the avg_fragmentation_in_percent is over 95%. Just about every transaction table plus most of the historical transaction tables were like this. The SOP tables were near 100%.

What have others used to reduce this type of index fragmentation on a GP database?

I agree, but over three years later I find this.

This is very good topic to disucss

We should discuss this like a senate debate and share our experiences and have general recommanded policy as best practices.

There are lot of confusions floating around while there is still no guidelines set to follow.

I will also suggest that MS should also outline some recommondations to help the community for the future
