Fixing entries on customer and General Ledger

Hi all,

We are cleaning up our accounts receivable books for year-end and we are down to only about a dozen entries that are showing irregularities between the subledger and the general ledger. What we are noticing is that many of these transaction are from the opening entries and we have been unable to recreate the opening customer journal entries and we are not sure how to fix these

Here are entries for 1 customer at the General Ledger level:

As you can see, the general ledger shows an outstanding amount of -$2,241.79 USD (credit to A/R).

When we look at the subledger it’s $0 (invoice and payment offset each other) as shown here:

How do I fix the General ledger to bring the receivable to $0 owing since it was really just 1 invoice owing and it was paid on Feb 11, 2022?

Opening balances are usually posted like this:
    On customer cards:
Debit: Customer  (end up in GL receivables account)
    Credit: Receivables account

Result in Receivables account is 0, but Customer card has balance.

Then You post the G/L account balances (in total amounts or splitted), that all together balance each other out.

Then when You register a payment, it went to
    Debit: Bank account
Credit : Customer (that ends up in receivables account)

So if You want to only adjust customer card balance, and not to impact GL balance, create a journal line
    To Increase balance:
    D: Customer
    C: Receivables account
or vice versa to decrease it. (C: Customer / D: Receivables account).
