Fiscal Periods Setup

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

The GL team was importing history from a legacy system into GP. We're not sure how it happened but on the FISCAL PERIODS SETUP screen, the historical year box is checked for the year 2008. How can I get this box "unchecked"?

Then it sounds like this is your only hope.

    update [MyCompanyDB].[dbo].[SY40101]

    set historyr=0

    where year1=2008

Once again I offer my services as this project keeps getting deeper and deeper. If you want an hour or two of my time I will help with this and other issues at no charge. It sounds like you have been given a huge project with little help. Is your reseller available? Are you on a support contract with Microsoft? Richard, one of the GL employees accidentally did something that made 2008 an historical year. They don't know what happened and how they did it. We need the box unchecked...We will be bringing over all of the years first but somehow when they were importing history, etc, this box was checked.

Please run this select statement in SQL

    select * from gl30000

If there are records in there that means someone has closed the year. Look to see what year has been closed. I thought you were going to be bringing over all years first and then close the years. All GL entries need to reside in the GL20000 table until you are ready to start closing years.

THANKS..I am GP Admin Support AND IT Support.  Yes, I was logged in as SA but got an error message about transaction history.  I am in class today and can't access SQL but can I run this statement and it will uncheck the box?

Are you logged in as 'sa' or as a poweruser as you try to unclick the historical year box? If you could ask your IT folks to run this, it will accomplish the same thing. You will need to substitute your company ID.

    update [MyCompanyDB].[dbo].[SY40101]

     set historyr=0

     where year1=2008

We didn't close the year and no, you can't uncheck it.

That box is typically checked automatically when a Fiscal year is closed.  However, it can be checked and unchecked manually.  If in fact 2008 has not been closed, you can just uncheck it.
