I no longer have access to my Microsoft account and am unable to receive the verification code during the account recovery process, as my previously registered phone number is no longer in use. Moreover, as attached pic, I dont have any other verification method. Could you please advise me on the procedure to update my phone number associated with the account

Change registered phone number

if you can not receive the verification code (because your old number is no longer active), Microsoft provides a manual recovery form:
Go to: https://account.live.com/acsr
You will need to:
Enter the email address of the account you’re trying to recover.
Provide an alternate email where Microsoft can contact you.
Answer as many verification questions as possible (past passwords, subjects of recent emails, Xbox info, etc.).
The more accurate details you provide, the better the chances that Microsoft will verify you as the account owner.
Once submitted, Microsoft will email you at the alternate address with updates on your request (usually within 24 hours).
